What can I expect?

Visiting for the first time?

Visiting a church for the first time can be daunting - there are lots of questions, and you are probably wondering what to expect when you arrive. The one thing we try very hard to do is give everyone a warm welcome, and try to make your visit worthwhile.

If you are thinking of joining us for the first time here's some practical tips and explanations to help you get the most out of your time with us.

When?

Every Sunday - 10:30am. The Service is just over an hour long and once a month (on the first Sunday) we share Communion.

Where?

We're located on Coventry Street in Southam CV47 0EP

There's a free carpark at the rear of the church in Wood Street if you come by car. There is a wheelchair or pushchair accessible entrance door next to the main front entrance.

What happens during the service?

We will sing a number of songs, some people like to raise their hands during this time- it’s just their way of worshipping God.  We usually stand up to sing, but you can remain seated if you wish.

We normally have a time of open-prayer.  This gives people in the church the chance to pray out-loud. Don’t worry, you will not be asked to or expected to do this unless you wish to. Most people usually remain seated when we pray but standing up is great too. We don’t usually kneel, but you may do so if you wish.

On the first Sunday of the month we share in the Lord's Supper (Communion)

According to the Bible, we partake of Communion in remembrance of the body and blood of Jesus that was broken and poured at the cross. It does not only remind us of his suffering but also shows us the amount of love Jesus had for us.

However to be able to share in the Lord's supper one must be born again. In other words must have gone through a self-examination, repentance, and confession. It's perfectly fine to let the emblems pass by if you don't feel comfortable to share yet.

Someone will then get up to preach / deliver the message. Normally they will read from the Bible, and then spend time explaining the passage and how it applies to people’s lives.

Once the service finishes, tea and coffee are served (free of charge). We welcome you to stay and meet some of the people in the community!

What about my children?

We have a creche available for young babies and toddlers.

The older children would normally stay in the service for the worship part and then go out to Sunday School during the sermon. During that time children learn about faith and how to relate to God in a way they can understand and is fun and suitable for their ages (4-12 yrs old).

What do I wear?

There isn't a dress code, a lot of people prefer to wear casual clothes while others opt for something smart. You can wear whatever you find comfortable.

 Where do I sit?

There are no reserved seats; sit where you are most comfortable. You will have more available options 5-10 minutes before the beginning of the service. We do have ushers who will be happy to assist you find a seat if needed.
